And with those Matt's you can cause fear, and they won't want to come in because they get shocked every time they go near the door. They are Barbaric, try reward based training, or go stand on the Matt yourself, see how it feels.

The dogs are beautiful and the owners are trying, what more could you ask for? I just hope they didn't leave those scat mats down permanently!! Because giving your pets a shock every time they approach a door could hurt them. Cesar also did say it was not an permanent fix, I wonder if they took that on board?

What was even the issue? Couple got mad because their dog's come inside when they open the door?? At least the dog's stick around!!! My dog's woulda launched over the fence & gone on their own adventure 😂
Not completely comfortable with the scat mat, I'd rather use the curb method (leash on dog, make it uncomfortable to go over the doorway without permission, repeat). It's nice to know that this is here for those super tough cases tho

I'm glad it worked for him but I am confused. I've trained a lot of dogs I've had at least 60 dogs over my years, and never have I had to resort to barbecuing a dog to get it to mind. I think that's cruel to shocking animal why don't you just try training the dog really simple I have $2 right now unfortunately put them in a crate cuz they have very high anxiety when I'm not home but as soon as my 8-hour shift is done at work I come home I let my dogs out of the cage I don't eat my furniture, they don't tear down the door trying to get the people and when my dog bark they're barking for a damn good reason. So I'm very confused why it's necessary to shock or barbecue a dog just get it to mine when there's so many other ways you can do it it doesn't hurt animal

It hurts me to see that.. so sad if a dog trainer has no other solutions with such an easy issue. It's absolutely not necessary to give the dog electric shocks, even in this Situation. It's irritating the dog and makes him unsure about getting into the house. There are so many better options which would also make the relationship between the dog and the owner better and leads to more respect and calmness. The lack of all this is the underlying problem.
Ridiculous way to train a dog.
Dogs are pretty fearful of things that they don’t understand. It does not have to be painful, that’s just their nature. Granted however, they are curious. For humans that don’t want to put in the work of positive reinforcement for whatever reason, this is an alternative. As pet parents, we should always experience how a corrective tool feels or works on us before using it on our pets. I have seen tools that vibrate instead of shock. I would try that first.

Totally disagree with the scat mat! Cruel and inhumane. Maybe the pet owners should try out the scat mat, or maybe they should have to wear shock collars to teach them to behave. I think the dogs should be removed from the home and given to a family that will love and appreciate them for all the joy they bring to our lives!
He is a joke he has only ever helped people become animal abusers by making people think it is okay. And the only thing he teaches the dogs is fear. Why would anyone let this awful trash person be on TV.
While Cesar did well in the previous video about Captain’s barking I do not agree with the use of a scat mat. But I guess it was a quick-fix to ensure Cesar would have a successful episode. :/
Sorry Caesar Millan, humanwise, I can't figure out your scat mat to burn the dogs for coming in. In the first place, with such attitude, these people should not have dogs. Dogs are loving creatures and always want to interact with their owners. They're like family, they need hugs, love or they feel miserable. As a dog trainer you know this.
I don't approve of scat mats as a tool to be used for any pet I think they took the easy way out with this one

What a horrible couple. They really have very bad energy.
Scat matts don't really work. The dog will eventually learn to simply jump over them. Further more, they could have used a wait command at the door. This command would have taught the dogs to wait behind the line (the open door) until called back into the house. A wait is not a stay. The dog is free to move and do what it wants in the designated area., they just can't cross the line. Where as a stay, means, “stay in this position, in this place until called away.” There was no need to go immediately to a painful scat mat. That shit hurts. I've stood on them.
Tools for lazy owners, this is what they should be labelled as, so maybe it encourages them to change their own behaviours. These type of tools should only be used as a last resort, I would have liked to have see them try other things first, but I dont think Cesar considered them pro active dog parents ….
I don't have dogs, i have cats, but i plan to have a dog, and am looking at probably going for a golden retriever!I do not like this couple one bit, and i'm sorry but i don't like this Cesar Millan bloke either, i have watched a few episodes of his show, and i really can not take to him at all, he never seems to show much compassion to any dog, i never have seen him even fuss a dog when they do well, don't like him one bit!I also watch Jackson Galaxy, the guy with the cats, and he is amazing, the complete opposite to this man, compassionate, kind and caring, all round lovely person and always achieves fantastic results!As for this couple they are vile, shouldn't have animals, the Scat Mat is cruel, and why the hell are you keeping your animals outside, don't have animals if you don't want to interact with them, your home should be their home, and they should be free to have the comfort of it when they want!Also get of you fat ass's and walk your dogs more often!! disgusting couple, don't deserve these beautiful fur babies!!
Lazy ass owners, the Captain needs to sail on a new ship
yes in addition they say that retrievers mature after 2 years to 6 years – so please more patience and one day I let them both go out for a hunt – and that was a complete different experience as well as they chased out a pheasant – only the hunter had his gun not ready – but they are brilliant dogs and we became close friend with emma, leila and elza who was the most boisterous one – also alone time is very important to establish that extra bond that you can have with him
the other thing that a retriever loves is a toy- special retrieve toy or ball – and you can then trow the toy out when he is (mis) behaving and will love it to give it back to you – sometime say bad weather a better option to go to the park
the other benefit it you get really fit with them or try bike rides if it is too much – to still get the exercise and if so dirty from being wet – we would lock them in a horse stable or special his place in garage- and they are happy out – dried up in house etc etc- tips that you can set him now to your schedule – being a pup may be a bt full on –

I'm not a dog trainer but I have worked with dogs most of my life. This just seems like a last resort kind of tool for a case that seems like it may have lended well to other, less extreme training methods. I'd equate it to using a prong collar first and foremost, with a dog that may walk just as well on a slip lead or a no pull harness. If you can get results with a less extreme method than that should be the first path you take. I've never used a tool like this, and yes, Ceser did mention that it was just that, a tool. I can't deny that, I just feel like it may be overkill. Most dog's don't even have that large of a reaction to stimulation on an E-collar, so this definitely seemed potentially traumatizing if not used the right way or overused. . . The same results may have been achievable some other way. But I wasn't there so I can't say, just thought I'd comment. This episode definitely bothered me a bit. I had no idea this sort of a mat even existed.
