In this episode, I meet Kim and her rescue three-legged shepherd mix, Luke. Luke is from Cambodia with a very difficult past.
He has developed trust issues with humans. He gets aggressive when people approach him. It has caused him to bark and even try to bite some people.

Two key pieces to helping a fearful dog, is a) confidence, you dont micro manage interactions, you're confidant everything will be fine, and if something happens you're confidant you can handle it, b) Dominance, you are the boss, you dont let your dog get away with anything, be firm but not aggressive. The dog needs to learn if something happens you will certainly deal with it, it means they can mentally go on vacation because you're doing the driving, they're the passenger.The dogs i see the biggest fear aggression with are the ones who's owners are meek and fearful themselves. They owner steps closer to intervene every interaction, the leash gets tighter anytime anything comes near. If you're not confidant and assertive, It puts the dog into alpha mode where they have to be on alert to take care of you. Another side effect of alpha mode is they start telling you how things are gonna be (you lose control).

My German Shepard Chappy hates men every sense he became a dad we have 3 German Shepard Elsa is 4 she doesn’t care about anyone but my husband she is constantly worried about him Chappy is constantly trying to control her energy then they had a litter we kept one out of the litter then fixed Chappy sense then if your a man coming into his space nope he thinks he is protecting his pack his mom his wife his kid I have to watch him closely if he’s outside but when it’s just us he is smart calm he loves to try and teach the other two dogs mainly he doesn’t like it where there energy is everywhere he will sit at my side if the puppy his hyper if the puppy try’s jumping on me he will stop him Elsa is obsessed with her ball and so he takes it because she is so obsessed with it Elsa has no boundaries with my husband so Chappy gets between and claims the space for my husband I try to teach my husband but he loves out of guilt the only person the dogs listen to is me but I can’t trust Chappy around men I worry he with teach the puppy the same thing Chappy has already bit a few of my husband guy friends he’s about 150lbs I’m about 110 so when he gets in that space of protection it’s hard when my husband mom moved in after a heart attack it got worse because when you go to correct the issue they both think that’s mean and feel guilty so I end up being the mean one in reality I don’t want my dog to bite anyone else I tell my husband we will have to find a home if he can’t get on board because it’s not a matter of if at this point it’s a matter of when he attacks someone and the puppy will just end up learning it from Chappy and you can’t just rehome a dog who doesn’t like men and you can’t take them to a shelter he will get put down I have bad MS and training 3 pure bread German Shepard’s alone with everyone against it because they feel guilty my husband feels guilty trying to kennel train the puppy he doesn’t like cages it’s frustrating they are all amazing dogs extremely smart if only I could train my husband and his mom to get on the same page for the sake of our dogs

Bless this owner – what a task she has taken on. I wouldn't have a clue. Thank Heavens for Cesar's guidance. Learning the language is key. Wishing this lady all the best and all success with this poor dog. I truly hope this dog understands her kindly intent. It is so sad what he went through and completely understand her fears to do the right thing. Keeping my fingers crossed she gets through this big task ahead of her.
it's really easy to fall the “empathy and sympathy ” trap for a rescued pet during training process, concern about their past trauma and history, their ability and disability, but don't overconcern it, this need psychological knowledge to guide, its an achievement for Kim and Luke, also it's good for Kim in her future Kids treatment.
It should be a law that anyone thinking of getting a dog, has to watch Caesar videos for 6 hours. Then read a book on how to raise dogs. Then get a dog…
We should sanction and boycott any country that tortures or kills dogs!

Hi Cesar. Our dogs keep trying to kill each other. My wife and I were married in January. Both of our dogs seemed to get along well with other dogs, but they've had several incredibly violent fights with each other, one of which put me in the hospital. We've been working with a local trainer for almost a year and the more aggressive dog is on prosac to help him calm down, but it isn't helping.Can you help us??

Ppl really need to learn, This is so damn common about women and dogs. Stop getting dogs without study dog behaviour This is very stressful for your dog, you only bring them pain this way, Your dog is not your teddy bear.

We adopted a pitbull who was the runt and they used him as a bait dog in their dog fighting ring. He got injured really bad so they dumped him on the side of the road during a snow storm. Someone found him and took him to a shelter where he received medical care. We adopted him. He really wants to be loved and to love. He's still scared of my husband if I'm not around but it's getting better.
Wow I feel sorry Luke having such an insecure owner. He literally is nervous cause she can't chill.
For the things that dogs suffer at the hands of humans it is amazing that some dogs can ever trust again.Junior looks like a boss! 👍

The emotion is good for a rescuer, but not necessarily for a rehabilitator. She said so much herself about her emotion and attitude. She also wanted him to live his best life going forward but was living in his abused past rather than taking him forward

I understand eating dogs and I can't be mad because I eat meat, but knowing how they torture them makes we wish very horrible things to that population of humans.

What an amazing story!Made me wonder how you go about rescuing a dog from a meat farm.I suppose money helps!But I'd rescue them before even going to the Humane Society cuz at least they are humanely euthanized here if unadoptable.They torture those dogs before cooking them as they believe it make the meat taste better if the animal is terrified as its dying. 😭😭😭

I started crying when she told Luke's story.
Should banned dog meat trade & make a law in every country. Why need 2 eat dog like no other meat option. Really broken 2 c how cruel people abuse, kill, eat this beautiful creature who has a feeling & luv __ Cesar is right, Kim should move forward than dwelling on the past, feeling sorry 4 him is enough now. Her feeling affect Luke'behaviour __ I knew how guilty could overpower & exhausted u. I killed my Maltese dog. He slept under my big 4wheel drive. Idk why he didnt wake up & why I was so stupid cause I was in hurry avoiding the witch ex mother in law. I remembered put my chihuahua inside car but why I forgot the Maltese. I was screaming bloody, went 2 vet & asked them 2 call cop. They said it was accident but not 2 me like I was a criminal. How could I killed the love of my life. We went 2 my mom house & park wit my dead dog body like nothing happened. Put him on my bed, till my fam buried him in my backyard. I still got my other dog which I gave affection more, went 2 church always pray 4 him & ask forgiveness. Cause till now that pain, the guilt, scar never heal even I move fowards. Sometimes if that horrible memory came, felt like my heart being stabbed. But then tried 2 remember the good memory we had, seen his pic, talked 2 some1 That pain was bit gone even still there. __ Anyway, just telling my story. i knew seems bit ridiculous just 4 dog, but not 2 me. It is easy 2 advice some1 but when happens 2 u, just couldnt get it over the guilty feeling.
My aunt had a collie with three legs, that dog ran and played with us cousins all the time!

Dear Cesar I have just taken in a 8 yr old Vizsla as she bit their baby. Have had Vizslas for more than 50 yrs. and l am 74. She growls at me when I ask you to do something or hold her collar. I am quite sure that she will bite me! After watching this video I am going to do some basic obedience ( she knows some ). Should be l insist that she does her sit, wait at the door at a sit the 1st time l tell her ? She is not big on treats but will get something tasty. Our house in college had a dog who got hit by a car and had to have emergency surgery and a front leg amputation. Was amazing how much he could do with 3 legs, swear he was just as fast and energetic (though he would fall over while peeing until he learned better). Dogs are so resilient
She really loves this dog, and the way he only trusts her is amazing. I'm sure they'll learn how to open to others as well… But his confidence in her after all he went through shows she's taking very good care of him.
